Stone Temple Pilots
Stone Temple Pilots (abbreviated STP) was a popular rock band in the 1990s, comprised of Scott Weiland (vocals), brothers Robert (bass) and Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Eric Kretz (drums).STP's five albums have sold over 17 million copies. The band had fifteen top ten singles on the Billboard rock charts, including six # 1's, and one # 1 album on the pop charts (1994's Purple). STP won the 1994 Grammy for the "Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal" for their song "Plush". In addition to their original material, they have also covered songs by Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and The Beatles. These bands were some of the groups cited by the band as its influences. In 2003, the band released the greatest hits compilation Thank You. Around this time, band members began going their separate ways. Since the band's demise, Weiland has moved on to become the frontman of Velvet Revolver with former members of Guns N' Roses. The DeLeo brothers have recently announced the formation of a new band, Army of Anyone, with Richard Patrick of Filter. Kretz founded Bomb Shelter Studios[1] in Los Angeles.Anyone else like this band?

Best concerts of 2008
2008 is about to end and personally it was a year full of amazing live music.I attendend concerts of Mars Volta, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Manu Chao, Stone Temple Pilots, Cafe Tacuba, Stereo Total, Oasis, and some others...:) (if you don't know some of them i really recommend you to give them a look in youtube)Leading by much, the best concert I attended this year was Nine Inch Nails. Man, their show is mind-blowing! The combine industrial rock with A LOT of multimedia. That includes usual lights and reflectors, but also an array of 3 translucent huge LED screens, 1 hi-def and the other of regular res. One screen is the background of the stage, other is in between the stage, and the third goes on front. This way Trent Reznor creates atmospheres around his music. Also the screens are interactive and project LIVE content. They interact to Reznor getting close to them of touching specific areas of the screen to generate tones. And they project live feeds from cameras around the arena (even 1 in a bathroom!).I was not a NIN fan, and now I am transformed, so for me this was the best concert of 2008.:)For you, which was the best concert of this year?!
Who's better? The rock/pop comparative game
I play this with my husband all the time. Choose two acts that are very similar and opine who's better and why. Here are a few for you to comment on:Who's better: Billy Joel, or Elton John? Carly Simon, or Carole King? Pearl Jam, or Stone Temple Pilots? Donna Summer, or Gloria Gaynor? Bozz Scaggs, or John Mayall? Foreigner, or REO? Kansas, or Styx? Daniel Powter, or James Blunt? Aguilera, or Spears? Evanescence, or that other group that sounds just like them? Paul Simon, or James Taylor? The Who, or Zeppelin? even, Phil Collins, or Peter Gabriel?See how it works? See how old I am?? Of course, for many, it's a matter of choosing the lesser evil.
Wii, Rock Band UPDATE! Track Pack Vol.1
Well it seems the team at Harmonix has given Wii users a new hope. Although not as convenient as simply downloading, Wii users can soon thrash too more of thier favorite rock bands. Harmonix and EA have announced they will be making purchasable track packs for the Wii. These bonus tracks are part of a volume of sets created to be part of the Rock Band music content. The first volume will be available for purchase July 15th for $29.99 in North America. Not to shortly after the release of "Rock Band: Special Edition" on June 22nd for the Wii.Seeing the high demand for content on Xbox Live and Sony's PS3 network might have something to do with it. With downloads of purchased content per track already in the millions it was only expected. Here is a song list for Volume 1:The Hives- "Die, All Right"! Boston- "More than a Feeling" David Bowie- "Moonage Daydream" Fath No More- "We care A lot" Grateful Dead- "Truckin'" Wolfmother- "Joker & the Thief" Weezer- "Buddy Holly" Stone Temple Pilots- "Interstate Love Song" Smashing Pumkins- "Siva" The Ramones- "Teenage Lobotomy" Queens of the Stone Age- "Little Sister" The Police- "Synchronicity II" Paramore-...
I need help remeberin a band name
What is the name of the band that the former guitarist of GunsnRoses, Slash, now plays in and what is the name of the somg that they play on the radio?
What kind of music do you listen to? Who are your favorite singers or bands?
I listen to a lot of rock music and I was an avid fan of Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, back in those days when grunge music was very much around. I think things have mellowed down a bit but you could hear an occasional Pantera-like album coming around. Right now my choices are more diverse. I listen to Duncan Sheik, The Cardigans, Foo Fighters, Tori Amos and Rammstein. How about you? What kind of music do you listen to?
How Old Does A Song Have To Be To Be "Classic Rock"?
Lots of people think "Classic Rock" is all 60's and 70's, with a little 80's thrown in.I am of the opinion that there are MANY songs from the 90's that could be termed "classic" now.Jane's Addiction, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden...I myself would consider many of these to be "classic" now. They have stood the test of time, and are still as popular and vital as when they came out many years ago...but some of my friends say they can't be "classic" because they aren't old enough...but when I try to pin them down on how old a song has to be, I can never get a definite answer from them.[em]rolleyes[/em]So...what do you think? How old does music have to be before it is "Classic"?
