myLot Discussions on Carol King Vintage LP
do you listen to classic songs? have you learned how to appreciate them?
i started to listen to the old songs upon reaching my 35th year & i learned to appreciate them. the melody of the 50's-80's songs are nice to hear. i don't mind listening to the oldies but goodies songs over & over again. it relax my body & mind.
I have three words of a song going through my head hopefully someone else can
remember the song. It is NOT Natural Woman the song made a hit by Aretha Franklin and Carol King and remade by so many others. There is a song, it is a country song, sung by a male country singer, I think it was the 70's may have been the early 80's but I am pretty sure that it was the 70's. The song is mellow slow, and it is woman,[small pause] natural woman ...Those are the only three words I can remember I woke up with this song in my head, and can't get rid of it, but the problem is that it is only those three words, the beat, and rhythm of the song, I can hear the fade and I can almost grasp the next to words but they sound so far away I can't really hear them, and it KEEPS going through my head it is going to drive me nuts. My own musical talent consists of the ability to turn on a radio, cd player, record player, or cassette player, beyond that I can barely get the tune of mary had a little lamb out correctly I can hear it correctly just doesn't translate to my mouth. So if anyone is familiar with old country it may be Ray Price, I already know it is not the Other Woman by Ray Price The problem is if you put Woman natural...
Can you Sing? I love to sing
I will sing anywhere, I'm not ashame to sing. I use to go to karaoke's to sing, I use to sing in a choir. I went to California one time in San Diego, My friends took me out and they had Karaoke. I sing this song by Carol King. It's to late baby. I got so many applause. Can you sing? or would you, if someone asked?
A Musical Stroll Down Memory Lane...
Today I sort of changed my recently new routine of checking my email and then logging on to "myLot". Instead I decided to download some music for my collection.Being in a rather nostalgic mood I downloaded "OLDIES BUT GOODIES". The point of this discussion is has anyone out there ever noticed how old tunes can send you back in time better than a time machine? Some of the memories are happy ones while others take you to a sad space and time. It is funny how today's music hasn't the same effect. In fact some of it I wish had never been produced. How do feel myLotters? Some groups in particular like the "Dramatics,The Drifters Chilites,The Begees,The Delphonics etc.; Individual artists like Gene Pitney,Carol King, and to me one of the greatest of all time was "KAREN CARPENTER" The world has really missed her. I know I certainly do. How about you and what music do you miss?
Are there any songs that make you cry?
Music is universal. There are many songs that I don't understand because they're in a different language. Still, that doesn't stop me from admiring the Artist or liking the song.Music provokes many emotions and one of them is sadness to the point where it can also make us break down and cry.At the top of my head, as I can remember, here are a few songs that made me teary eyed at some point:1) Dying Young - Kenny G (Because it reminds me of my Grandfather whom I adore) 2) So Far Away - Carol King (When I was in a long distance relationship) 3) To Where You Are - Josh Groban (Also because of my Gramps)Are there any particular songs that make you cry? What are they?
what do you do first when you get up in the morning?
for me the first thing that I do is smilling an I wish a new great day!!! Y'VE GOT TO GET UP EVERY MORNING WITH A SMILE ON YOUR FACE AND SHOW THE WORLD ALL THE LOVE IN YOUR HEART - Carol King
