| | | Romantic songs-- what are your favorites | | I am playing some music on my computer and one of my favorite songs is 'Could I have this dance' by Anne Murray. It is just a beautiful songs that tells of people that feel right together and want to be together for the rest of their lives. Nothing fancy, nothing exciting. And the beat is just right to hold someone and dance slow. And Anne Murray has this beautiful rich voice...So tell me, what is your favorite romantic song and why? | |
| | Do you think Country music should make a comeback? | | Bob Dylan. Gordon Lightfoot. Eric Clapton. Don Williams. Kenny Rogers. Anne Murray. All these names bring to us, the wonderful highway blues... In this present scenario, where "Alternative Rock"[including Pop,Rap and Reggae] rules, do you think that Country Music should make a comeback? | |
| | Songs for Deeper voices. | | I am just looking for songs that I will be able to sing comfotably. I can not hit high notes, believe me...it's awful;P lol. I just need some good songs that I can sing good, without the high notes! Thanks | |
| | Some of my all time fav songs:) | | Music is like art. I may not be able to describe why I like it, but in both cases I have to feel it to enjoy it.My 20 Favorite Songs Are:Anne Murray, (a Canadian):She sang a song called ’’Could I Have This Last Dance For The Rest Of My Life.’’ It is a very romantic song. The BeatlesI loved their song called, ’’Let It Be’’, because it was quite different than any other song they sang. I was so proud of them when the let a group in Israel use it, and they wrote the words to ’’Sola-he’’, a song of peace.Celine Dion’s:I like most of her songs but my favourite is ’’A New Day Has Come’’. I like this song, because when I am sad, this song gives me hope, that a new day will make my life better.Fat Boy Slim (from the movie Moulin Rouge):Singing ’’Because we Can’’. I love to dance the Can Can, and that is what this song is based on.Bob Hope, singing ’’Thanks For the Memories’’:He didn’t sing many songs, (Bing Crosby sang and he was the comic), but this is one of the few songs he did sing. He sang this song on his show and to the troops in 5 wars.Ira and George Gerwin’s song, ’’Embraceable You.’’:This is another song my husband and I... | |
| | dont you agree what the world needs now is a little bit of good news? | | Anne Murray- Little Good News
I rolled out this morning
Kids had the mornin' news show on
Bryant Gumbel was talkin' 'bout the fighting in Lebanon
Some senator was squawkin' 'bout the bad economy
It's gonna get worse you see, we need a change in policy
There's a local paper rolled up in a rubber band
One more sad story's one more than I can stand
Just once how I'd like to see the headline say
"Not much to print today, can't find nothin' bad to say", because
Nobody robbed a l!quor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD'ed, nobody burned a single buildin' down
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today
I'll come home this evenin'
I'll bet that the news will be the same
Somebody takes a hostage, somebody steals a plane
How I wanna hear the anchor man talk about a county fair
And how we cleaned up the air, how everybody learned to care
Whoa, tell me
Nobody was assassinated in the whole Third World today
And in the streets of Ireland, all the children had to do was play
And everybody loves everybody in the good old USA
We sure could use a little good news today
Nobody robbed a l!quor store on the lower... | |
| | Do you remember 2 channel tv? | | Ok this may be slightly geared towards Canadians but I'm sure other nations were similar. I am sitting here sifting through my 500 channels and I can't find anything to watch (reruns everywhere).Cable TV did not come along until I was in my mid-teens so I think about suffering through with two channels (CBC-government sponsored, you do the math...and CTV, not a lot better). Other than the crown jewel of Hockey Night in Canada (which used to be Saturdays and Wednesdays) they had little to often. Their series were so parochial. In the Maritimes we were saddled with shows like "Sing-along Jubilee" which featured regular performers singing locally themed music (although the show created one bona fide star in Anne Murray). The sitcoms were incredibly bad, such as "The Beachcombers" and "King of Kensington".Yet, I wonder if anything has much improved. The selection is far greater, but is there actually that much more on that is worth watching?Thoughts?Yes this is one of those "Back in my day" sort of threads. | |
